Days 6 and 7 saw the group divide in to smaller sub groups to undertake some training at the shooting range with Tamir, training on a bus and in a park with Zeev, and some road rage training with Amnon in and around cars.
We spent half a day on the shooting range in Netanya with Tamir, who took us through a variety of drills with a Jericho 9mm pistol. The experience levels with guns within the group ranged from complete novices to accomplished marksmen, allowing us not only to learn from Tamir, but also others in the group. One of the participants was a shooting instructor in the US Marine Corps and very kindly offered (thanks Mac!) to take us all back to the range in evening for some further training and the opportunity to shoot with a whole range of weapons.
Half a day was spent with Amnon in a car park Krav Maga training with two rental cars (they got trashed!).We looked at defending against attacks from various directions from within the car, getting out of the car quickly and safely, and how to use the vehicle as a tool to aid your defence. Fantastic Krav Maga training, simulating very realistic conditions.
Training on the Bus was another first for all of us and was great fun. Zeev had us practice a number of drills from a seated position, examining how standard Krav Maga techniques had to adapted to the environment. We then had to fight our way off the bus, running the gauntlet of attackers. we finished the session by looking at methods for evacuating a third party who may have been injured.
The remainder of the time was spent with Zeev training in a park with an obstacle course. Initially dealing with gun threats before progressing on to fighting drills on the obstacle course. Very hard work! Great fun!
